Scoundrels with Jobs

Roshie, Kirwin and BZ-H had a run in with the leader of a prison clique that was involved in the drug trade, Moruth Doole. They were told that they had to gather raw glitterstim during their mining duties or there would be trouble. Roshie made a deal with Moruth that he would get a datapad in return for the spice.

Afterwards they met with Numa Kairn, who was eavesdropping on the conversation. She said that she could get them off world if they could get her out of the prison.

After mining duty Roshie and BZ-H were compliant but when Moruth's thugs asked for the spice from Kirwin, he decided to sucker punch the Aqualish. Behind the scenes Roshie was able to short out the retraining bolt on BZ-H which allowed Kirwin to convince the thugs that it wasn't worth the fight given BZ-H wasn't restrained anymore.

They decided to follow Moruth's thugs to see where Moruth was hiding and it led to the high security prisoner cell (F), yet the thugs were able to enter and exit at will. Roshie convinced the others that now that they had a datapad, he would need to get to an access point to slice into the prison's systems. They decided the infirmary was the easiest access point so Kirwin punched Roshie in the eye leaving a nasty bruise.

Once in the infirmary, Roshie was able to convince the doctor to let him use his data access point but only if he were to acquire the data cube that Moruth has in his possession. When Roshie returns they confront Moruth during dinner. Moruth is reluctant to give up the cube revealing that it is evidence that the doctor was not responsible for the Grand Moff's death during surgery but rather Warden Kluskine had sabotaged the equipment.

Moruth tells you to follow him to cell block F. Moruth whispers to the others to take out the guard when he opens the gate.

Would I need a weapon if I had a lightsaber?

Kirwin was able to convince the guard that it wasn't worth a 5 on 1 fight and that he should go on break. They entered the guard station and found an area to access the prison systems. After some clever work disassembling a stun baton, Roshie was able to connect to the system with his datapad.

After a few failed attempts at slicing into the system, Roshie realized there was somebody counter slicing him. He changed his tactics and was able to lock the slicer out of the system temporarily. Once the other slicer was taken care of, he was able to slice into the security system and the spice management system.

Moruth took the datapad from Roshie and ran some commands of his own then gave it back to Roshie. Roshie was able to program the system to accept a new code for all security doors and planted a virus that prevented the system from knowing when they entered any room.

They then tracked down Numa and told her they have access. She suggested the best way to escape would be to use the mines, but they would need to be ready for the energy spiders that lived there. Energy spiders are susceptible to stun weapons so they snuck into the factory at dusk to use some tools to integrate the parts of a stun baton they stole earlier into BZ-H's systems.

After leaving the factory, they noticed that cell block B was being searched by dozens of Imperial Stormtroopers. The group decided to split up to investigate. Kirwin went to cell block A to talk to Numa who told him that they were searching the prison for a light saber. They already went through cell block A.

BZ-H tracked down a very old model protocol droid in the prison yard who told him a similar story. The protocol droid was missing an arm and his photoreceptors were damaged. BZ-H made a quick bond with this droid and told him that one day the "flesh bags" will pay.

Roshie went to cell block F to see Moruth. When he entered the cell block, he expected it to be high security with guards everywhere and all the prisoners locked in their cells. Instead he found an elaborate smuggling operation with gliterstim processing equipment filling a large portion of the cell block. He was brought to Moruth's office. He tried to convince Moruth to give him some weapons but the most he was able to get was one vibroknife. Moruth said he couldn't part ways with any more.

The three met back in the yard and exchanged the information that they learned, now ready to finally make their escape.
